Bow – Fine Tuning Draw Length

One you’ve ascertained your starting point you’d need to start shooting the bow with good form to finetune your draw length.

Look at the movement of your pin/dot on the target over time, and take note of the characteristics thereof:

  • Short
    • Crisp, jumpy movements in the sight pin.
    • Compressed form:
      • a high shoulder, either front or back.
      • exaggerated bend in the front arm.
    • Elbow coming away from the line of force to the front of the archer, sometimes causing a bent wrist.
    • Head moving forward to meet the string
  • Long
    • Uncontrollable slow floating of the sight pin.
    • Expanded form:
      • lack of expansion room & the front arm is sometimes hit by the string.
      • reaching with the bow hand.
    • Elbow tucked away behind the head.
    • Anchor point drifting backwards
