Equipment:

  • Kettle bells or dumbbells of a suitable weight.

Technique:

  • Set up bar dumbbells on your sides or in the upright position next to each other in front of your chest.
  • Start with feet a touch more than shoulder-width apart with toes slightly outwards.
  • Lower the body by hinging at the hips and knees while your glutes move down and back until your thighs are parallel to the floor.
  • Press up through your feet while squeezing your glutes to return to the upright starting position.
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps.

Notes:

  • This can be a warm-up exercise to shooting practise.
  • This is an alternative to the barbell free squat and is more accessible.
